“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:18
This is a chapter on wills. Here you will find that Jesus will, his Father will, and we will or will not. Thee are more than 25 “will” in 30 verses. The subject Jesus is speaking to is how we can be incorporated into a definite plan being acted on by the God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the coming Counselor. The emphasis is on peace in our hearts. When we are feeling alone or even abandoned by God, know that the plan is not yet complete and we still have a big part in it. They promised!
Possibly the greatest challenge for me, is to trust God. Trust Him completely. Trust Him when there seems to be no solution. Trust Him when the solution is not what I planned. Trust Him when heaven seems silent and nothing is happening. I want to have the same desire as Moses. He wanted to see the ways of God and not just His deeds. Now that request is risky! That takes trust that God is always gracious and loving.
Father, Help my unbelief. Help me to continually affirm what I know to be true even when I do not feel or see evidence of Your grace.
